Уъркшопът „AI and Innovative Technologies for Empowering Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities“ е второто международно събитие, организирано през 2025 г. на територията на Нов български университет. Събитието се реализира в контекста на участието на екип от НБУ в проекта SALUS (Citizen-centered health platform for cross-border regions), част от инициативата *“Integration of the region of Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe into the European Research Area” (Bridge2ERA2021).

Проектът SALUS е финансиран от Германското федерално министерство на образованието и научните изследвания (BMBF) за периода 01.10.2023 – 30.09.2025 по грант № 01DS2310. Основната му цел е изграждане на граждански ориентирана здравна платформа за трансгранични региони, която адресира социални, технически, икономически и политически предизвикателства в здравеопазването. Сред водещите акценти са създаването на мрежи, укрепване на международното сътрудничество, разработване на дигитални здравни платформи и подготовка на съвместни проектни предложения.

Проектът обединява партньори от редица държави, включително Западните Балкани, Гърция и Румъния, с фокус върху развитието на телемедицината, дигитализацията на здравния сектор и интеграцията на нови технологии в подкрепа на уязвими групи.

Уъркшопът има за цел да обедини научни изследователи и експерти от практиката в съвместна работа по проектно предложение към програма Horizon Europe, и по-конкретно – HORIZON-HLTH-2025-03-STAYHLTH-01-two-stage. В рамките на събитието участниците ще работят по теми, свързани с прилагането на изкуствен интелект (AI), визуални стратегии и персонализирани обучителни инструменти за подобряване на качеството на живот на хора с интелектуални затруднения. Основен акцент ще бъде поставен върху разработването на проектното предложение и разпределянето на конкретни отговорности между партньорските екипи за неговата подготовка и реализация.

Програмата ще включва:

• Преглед на напредъка по подготвяните проектни секции
• Създаване на работни групи по пакети, както и с конкретика върху етичните, технологичните и методическите теми
• Дизайн на концепции за сценарии и мултимодални средства
• Стратегическо планиране и структуриране на проектното предложение

Събитието ще осигури възможности за интернационално сътрудничество, трансфер на технологии и развитие на устойчиви партньорства.

The workshop “AI and Innovative Technologies for Empowering Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities” is the second international event organized in 2025 on the premises of New Bulgarian University. The event is held in the context of the university team’s participation in the SALUS project (Citizen-centered health platform for cross-border regions), part of the initiative *"Integration of the region of Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe into the European Research Area" (Bridge2ERA2021).

The SALUS project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for the period October 1, 2023 – September 30, 2025 under grant agreement No. 01DS2310. Its main goal is to build a citizen-centered health platform for cross-border regions, addressing social, technical, economic, and political challenges in the field of healthcare. Key priorities include network creation, strengthening international collaboration, developing digital health platforms, and preparing joint project proposals.

The project brings together partners from several countries, including the Western Balkans, Greece, and Romania, with a strong focus on the development of telemedicine, digitization of the healthcare sector, and integration of emerging technologies to support vulnerable populations.

The workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners for collaborative work on a project proposal under Horizon Europe, specifically targeting the call HORIZON-HLTH-2025-03-STAYHLTH-01-two-stage. During the event, participants will focus on topics related to the application of artificial intelligence (AI), visual strategies, and personalised learning tools aimed at improving the quality of life of individuals with intellectual disabilities. A key focus will be placed on the development of the project proposal and the distribution of responsibilities among partner teams for its preparation and implementation.

The workshop agenda will include:

• Review of progress on drafted project sections
• Formation of workgroups by work packages, with focus on ethical, technological, and methodological topics
• Design of scenario concepts and multimodal tools
• Strategic planning and structuring of the project proposal

The event will provide opportunities for international collaboration, technology transfer, and the development of sustainable partnerships.
